Our mission at Archdale Animal Clinic:
"To provide an extraordinary veterinary experience to both our clients and their pets, while building a positive workplace culture anchored upon teamwork, in a family-oriented environment."
We strive to do this by treating your canine or feline companion not just as a pet, but as a part of our family. We want our patients to live long, happy lives and share years of joy with their families. We do this by offering the best medical and surgical care to our patients and by keeping our pet owners educated on topics important to their pet's overall well-being. We understand that every dog and cat is unique; therefore our doctors develop individualized treatment plans based on what would be best for both you and your pet. We take the time to explain all aspects of your pet's diagnosis and treatment and include you in the decision making process. In addition to scheduling specific appointment times, we also offer drop-off appointments for our clients!

Dr. Malpass grew up just a few miles down the road from Archdale Animal Clinic.
He started his animal career as a veterinary technician in 2009 while pursuing degrees in Biology and Chemistry from our very own High Point University. Thereafter, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he was awarded the Robert D. Horne Orthopedic Surgery Award and is the recipient of the National Bayer Excellence in Communication Award.
He has special interests in osteoarthritis and ACL (more correctly called CCL) injury and repair. He also enjoys gastro-intestinal surgery, soft tissue reconstructive surgery, nutritional medicine and educating clients on how to keep their pets happy and healthy. Dr. Malpass has received additional training in diagnostic ultrasound and surgical fracture repair.
In their free time, Dr. Chad, his wife Alix, their son Grey, and their boxer Sookie love to eat great food and travel. Weekends are filled with hiking, biking, skiing, bird hunting, fishing, or exploring something new; whether it be 10 minutes from home or on the other side of the globe. Did we mention he likes to eat?
Dr. Mark L Ayer has called Archdale home for more than 30 years. Growing up in a military family, he had the privilege of living in many places in the U.S. and abroad, identifying with all types of people and cultures. Dr. Ayer received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina in Zoology and Chemistry, his Masters degree from NC State University in Zoology, and his Doctorate degree from Iowa State University in Veterinary Medicine. After spending a year practicing in Charlotte, NC, he spent the next 8 years in High Point, NC prior to purchasing Archdale Animal Clinic in 1992.
Dr. Ayer has a special interest in managing medical cases in dogs and cats. He has also become quite a proficient surgeon throughout his career and still spends two days a week in the operating room.
In his free time, Dr. Ayer enjoys being actively involved in the High Point/Archdale and surrounding communities and is a long standing member of the Furnitureland Rotary, an active Boy Scout leader (an Eagle Scout himself), and a member of Crimestoppers of Archdale. When he's not supporting his community, he enjoys playing golf, bridge, and cheering on the UNC Tarheels! His faithful friend Artemus is never too far away.

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Kelsey LaVigne has been working with animals for as long as she can remember. She attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science (Go Hokies!) before moving to North Carolina to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from NC State University. Upon graduating, she spent several years practicing at a mixed animal practice in rural Georgia before returning to North Carolina and joining Archdale Animal Clinic in 2016.
Her special interests include combining low stress animal handling and client education to provide the best preventative medicine approach for your pet and your family. She has had additional training in veterinary dentistry and a constantly growing interest in surgery.
Dr. LaVigne and her husband, Peter, have two young children, a "Georgia Ditch Dog" named Lucy, and a freshwater fish tank. She loves reading, hiking, volunteering, and traveling (especially to places she can snorkel!). She is looking forward to forming a lasting relationship with your fur-family.
A native of Kentucky, Dr. Catherine G. Buttke performed her pre-veterinary work at Western Kentucky University. After receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981, she moved to North Carolina to join a mixed animal practice, which at that time served the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. She was the first female Veterinarian to practice in Randolph County. After 2 years of working full-time, she began working part-time for various small animal practices in Randolph, Davidson, and Guilford counties. She eventually joined the staff of Archdale Animal Clinic, full-time, in 2006.
In addition to the veterinary skills obtained through a lifetime of healing animals, she is most known for her special interest in feline medicine.
Dr. Buttke is married to a dairy farmer. She has two adult children and 2 grandchildren, all of whom reside in the area. She shares her home with two cats - Seal & Tabby. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, needlework, quilting, and hiking in the mountains.
