Vaccines We Recommend for Dogs and Cats

Vaccinations play a crucial role in your pet's health. It is particularly important to vaccinate puppies and kittens as their immature immune systems makes them more susceptible to many diseases like parvovirus (dogs) and herpes virus (cats), among other diseases. We'll  have you tell us a little about your home environment and places you intend to visit or travel to in order to recommend which vaccines your pet needs.

​We also offer vaccine titers for owners of older, well-vaccinated pets, instead of some vaccines. We are more than happy to discuss your pet's individual needs. Just give us a call.

Here are the vaccines we commonly recommend for dogs and cats:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper/Hepatitis/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus (DHPP)

Are Vaccines Safe for My Pet?

Vaccines are safe for dogs and cats. If a reaction does occur, it is usually mild. Some pets may feel sleepy after being vaccinated, especially if it’s the first time, but it should not last more than 24 hours.
Just like humans, pets may feel sore at their injection site, but this is temporary as well. If you’re concerned about how your pet will respond to immunizations, be sure to let us know so we can put your mind at ease.

A Healthy Start for Puppies and Kittens

Your new pet can meet their veterinarian as early as 6 weeks old. During this visit, we'll set your pet on the right path by:

  • Checking for worms (and providing deworming treatments)
  • Ensuring your pet's overall health from nose to tail
  • Advising on the proper diet for optimal growth and development
  • Beginning their vaccine boosters for gradual disease immunity
  • Providing support on behavior, housebreaking, socialization, and more
