Our Veterinary Team

Dr. Kelsey LaVigne

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Kelsey LaVigne has been working with animals for as long as she can remember. She attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science (Go Hokies!) before moving to North Carolina to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from NC State University. Upon graduating, she spent several years practicing at a mixed animal practice in rural Georgia before returning to North Carolina and joining Archdale Animal Clinic in 2016.

Her special interests include combining low-stress animal handling and client education to provide the best preventative medicine approach for pets and families. She has additional training in veterinary dentistry and a constantly growing interest in surgery.

Dr. LaVigne and her husband, Peter, have two young children, a "Georgia Ditch Dog" named Lucy, and a freshwater fish tank. She loves reading, hiking, volunteering, and traveling (especially to places she can snorkel!). She is looking forward to forming a lasting relationship with your fur-family.

Dr. Elise Lavie

After growing up in Connecticut, Dr. Lavie attended Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!), where she received her Animal Science degree. She spent 6 months completing an internship program on a Kentucky Thoroughbred breeding farm before returning to LSU to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. She completed a yearlong veterinary internship at Carolina Equine Hospital in Browns Summit, NC, before moving to the Charlotte area with her husband, where she worked in equine practice for a few years. She then transitioned to working for the NC Department of Agriculture at one of the State Diagnostic Laboratory system branches before returning to the Greensboro area to work at Archdale Animal Clinic.

Dr. Lavie enjoys the variety of veterinary medicine and helping pet parents build lasting, healthy relationships with their pets. There is never a dull moment in veterinary medicine!

Dr. Lavie lives back in Browns Summit with her husband (an equine vet). They enjoy hiking, backpacking, being outdoors in general, and eating and cooking good food.

Dr. David Brekke

Dr. Brekke was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. He received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. He discovered and developed his passion for small animal surgery during veterinary school.

Following veterinary school, Dr. Brekke completed a rotating small animal internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas in Cary, North Carolina. He then matched to a small animal surgery internship at Louisiana State University where he remained prior to moving to Kansas City to work as a small animal general practice veterinarian. His passion for surgery and providing the highest quality of care for his patients is still paramount.

Dr. Brekke lives with his wife, Emily, who is an OB/GYN physician. They have two fun, loving golden retrievers named Odin and Duck and a lop-eared rabbit named Loki. In his free time, Dr. Brekke enjoys reading, cooking, smoking meat, hiking, camping, enjoying the great outdoors, and cheering on Alabama football. Roll tide!

Dr. Sarah Graham

Dr. Graham is originally from Ponte Vedra, Florida. Growing up near the beach, she developed a strong interest in marine animals, which sparked her passion for veterinary medicine. She attended Wake Forest University for her Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and the University of Georgia for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Go deacs and go dawgs!

In the clinic, Dr. Graham enjoys building strong relationships with her patients and their families. Her medical interests include dentistry, endocrinology, and surgery.

Dr. Graham lives with her fiancé and cat, Buzz, in Winston-Salem. When not practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys cooking, live music, and spending time outdoors.
